In Today's World - Stand Apart From The Crowd - Create Your Identity!
My point is this. Creating an identity isn't easy. If you want marketing strategies that work you really have to sit and think about it, ponder over it and toss around why someone would do business with you. Small and medium businesses have a challenge but they make it harder then what it actually is. A marketing strategy in today's world has to encompass "everything in a nutshell." Telemarketing to get information, email marketing to follow up and get the people interested so you can make a sale, direct marketing - if the business warrants it, Google advertising because it works, social network advertising because it's changing the way businesses market. You can't take one thing out of the equation. If you are not marketing your wares 24/7 you are losing. Do you have to be a guru? Nope. You just need to accept the fact that you need to make a commitment to a marketing strategy and stick to it.
First thing any marketing strategy for small to medium business has to think about is creating their identity. Lett ing people know why they should do business with them. Kind of like Progrssive's Flo or Aflac's Duck. I'm not saying you need a mascot or anything like that - but you do need a slogan or phrases that make you stand out from the crowd.
Here's an example. Go look at any home remodeling company's website. They ALL LOOK THE SAME!! - Not by the pictures it's by what they say. "Hi - thanks for stopping by our website. We've been in business for 25 years and blah blah blah blah blah." I hear that sound from the Charlie Brown cartoon, Wah Wah Wah Wah.
So much is lost when who you are is not translated to a prospect. If you are picky about the job you do then say it. If you are a perfectionist about what you do then say it. If you dot all your I's and cross all your T's say it. I'll say it over and over. In order for small and medium businesses to have a good marketing strategy they need to target their market and tell their story as to why they are good at what they do. What makes them stand out fom the pack.
Right here on my website - right from the homepage - you know who I am and what I'm about. Go to my about page and there's more of who I am that smacks you in the face. That's who I am.
A Good Marketing Plan To Bring Your Business To
The Next Level
You then have to analyze the results from each stream. If you just throw it out there once and say it doesn't work is a waste of time. Example: You run a Google Adwords campaign and are getting plenty of visitors but no sales/signups. Does that mean the campaign is a total flop? NO!! It means your message is wrong! People are clicking and are interested but they leave because you are delivering the wrong message. That's on of the biggest complaints I hear from clients. The biggest hurdle I have to overcome is how they got ripped off by another company that said the same thing I did. The difference is after talking with me for an hour I bring up things that I talk about in my posts and it's like they have never heard them before. "Analyze? What do you mean analyze?" It's going to take how long? Well the other company said blah blah....." and tha'ts here I interject.
I really am not trying to put other companies down. You made a wrong decision that should not effect your passion to grow your company.
Building who you are and creating your identityu should flow through all of your marketing starting with your website, business cards, flyers, mailers, advertisements and anything you do. Creating your identity is the most important thing even BEFORE you start to market or any marketing effort will be a waste. You'll be like ever other Joe Shmo out there...
It all starts with your website. We'll be talking about small and medium marketing strategies and why your website is so important in upcoming posts.
Thanks for stopping by.
